Senior Elk Hunt

More Info

looking for a senior elk hunt? This may be just the hunt for you. If you can spend a couple of hours walking around the store or at some other event, then you are ready to come. We all know that many senior citizens enjoy elk hunting as much as the rest of us. Fact is, it was you who passed on the love of the outdoors along with a wealth of knowledge to the younger generation of hunters and for that I am thankful.
Time rapidly slips away over the years and seems to diminish the possibility of ever experiencing a western elk or deer hunt for many of you. Don’t be dismayed, I may just be able to provide you that special hunt you have been waiting so long for. It is quite evident that you are not someone to let the years get you down. Though you may not be the young buck you once was your ambitious desires to continue hunting had led you here, where I hope I can be of assistance. Please read the information provided and give me a call and we’ll start planning a trip just for you.

The Hunt:
These excellent high quality hunts are located on select private ranches in Western Colorado. An abundance of wildlife resides here on a regular basis during hunting season and it is not uncommon for clients to see hundreds of elk and deer during their hunt. We provide 1 guide per 2 hunters on average. Each guide will share his time between the clients. As hunters fill their tags, guides are freed up to spend excess time with the remaining others. After an animal has been harvested and pictures taken, my staff and I take over field dressing and transporting the meat to be processed ( clients are responsible for this fee ). For those who fill their tags early or just bring someone along for the ride, there are numerous nearby attractions just waiting to be taken advantage of.

Terrain:
A moderate to gentle terrain allows hunters of most ages and abilities to hunt here and yet sits on the edge of the wilderness. This provides you with an opportunity to hunt in a manner and place that most of us could easily do. During this hunt we will hunt over hay fields. alfalfa fields, creek bottoms, sage fields and aspen & cotton wood meadows. Most of these areas lay at the base of the mountains and provide excellent habitat for wildlife. The ranches provide some tremendous hunting opportunities without having to journey for great distances through the mountains only to find someone else is sharing your spot. Getting around on these ranches is relatively easy as I have hunted men up to 73 and as young as 13 with no problems. Success for these hunts typically run above 65%.

Lodging
During the hunt we reside at the Red River Inn in Rifle Co, where we commute each day to one of the ranches (20 - 30 minutes.) The 2:1 guide ratio allows us to keep track of everyone and also provides each pair of hunters with that added edge of having an experienced guide to help them harvest their trophy. After the hunt you may want to tip your guide. Tips play a big part in their income and they should be compensated accordingly. It is common practice to tip from 5-15 percent of the cost of your hunt.
